Begin your trip to Jonesborough, Tennessee at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center & Old Town Emporium Gift Shop at 117 Boone Street. The Center is located seven miles from Interstate 26 and within walking distance of Main Street, bed and breakfasts, unique retail shops, gourmet dining options and the International Storytelling Center.
Here you can pick up an official Historic Jonesborough Visitors Guide, seasonal events calendars, local and regional maps as well as an answer to any questions you may have by our knowledgeable staff. The Center also houses the Jonesborough-Washington County History Museum which is filled with early East Tennessee hand-made furniture, an original fire pump that was used when fires consumed the downtown district and dated photos of Jonesborough as a stage coach town. While you’re here, plan on visiting the Gift Shop for books by local authors, hand-made crafts by regional artisans, local jams and jellies and official Historic Jonesborough merchandise.
Be sure to ask the staff for a free Jonesborough Walking Tour guide as you begin your journey in Jonesborough. The Walking Tour Guide features a self-guided tour with almost 30 historical points and little known stories along the way. Or, for the history buffs, purchase a Historical Strolling Tour Guide that captures 40 points all within walking distance of the historic district. A third option is a guided historic Walking Tour that begins at the International Storytelling Center. They begin at different times dependent on the season so call for days and times. Tour is $5 per person and tickets can be purchased inside the center.
