Whether you bike for health, fun, or for the challenge, East Tennessee offers the perfect bike trails for any resident or tourist biker wanting to explore the Appalachian Mountains. Our scenic mountains offer the perfect setting for the all out biker who is looking for a good challenge. Other bicycle and walking trails offer less challenging paths for the biker wanting to get out, minimize their carbon footprint and take in the beautiful mountains.
Historic Jonesborough offers wonderful biking trails as well. Persimmon Ridge Park offers some challenging mountain bike trails in the 100-plus acre park and also contains part of the Lost State Scenic Walkway. This trail offers a way for the visitor wanting to take in the ambiance of Historic Jonesborough as it starts at Persimmon Ridge Park and makes its way to the heart of Historic downtown where you can take a break to shop and eat.
The Lost State Scenic Walkway is currently being developed and Phase II will be completed in late 2010 and will pick up at Barkley Creek Park off of West Main Street, follow Little Limestone Creek through downtown and connect to Mill Spring Park. This will offer more biking opportunities for our visitors.
While you’re visiting charming Historic Jonesborough, take a trip to nearby Johnson City, Kingsport or Bristol and check out their plethora of biking trails and multiple venues for mountain biking. After enjoying your bike ride, dine at one of Jonesborough’s excellent restaurants, and then spend a relaxing evening at a historic hotel or bed and breakfast in beautiful Jonesborough.
